Mall Rat

if you live in manila you know that the capital is swarming with shopping malls. every type, size and location — we have it.

the usual “malling” uniform of the average filipino is a t-shirt, jeans, and some flip-flops. i guess i can’t really blame them. you gotta be comfortable when walking around, after all. i also sometimes dress down when going to the mall, especially when i am just there for a quick errand.

but more often than not, i like to turn it up a notch and dress like my usual self. i get stared at, sure. people even whisper or point at me… but i don’t really mind them. what can i say, i like standing out.

this is what i wore to dinner with the family and some relatives who are in town for vacation.

here you’ll see me standing on the deck of a mall (sm north — one of the largest in the country), and on the other side of the road is another massive one (trinoma).
