Fashionable Friends: Cheena
one of my most treasured moments (ever) is winning a dance competition as part of my high school dance team with about a dozen other girls, each of whom i miss and love dearly. one of those girls is llora – or cheena, as she is more fondly called. she is witty, creative and, i was pleasantly surprised to discover, a natural style star.
my name is ma. llora angela abellon, but you can call me cheena (ask my grandma where she got this :P).
i’m from quezon city, philippines. i am a freelance make-up artist by day and full time web consultant at night.
i really can’t remember when i got interested in fashion, but i’m guessing that my interest grew stronger way back high school days when i was torn between punk rock and hiphop and then some just because i wanted to fit in (ugh those nene days).
my style can be best described as classy and comfortable. i really don’t have a specific style icon but i do get inspired by the unique statements of celebrities and bloggers.
my all-time favorite trend is vintage. for some reason i find it so easy to create a timeless look mixing vintage pieces with the new comers. and it reminds me so much of my grandma’s photos which i love. i think vintage fashion is the only thing i appreciate borrowed from the past.
when i have 5 minutes to get dressed i usually throw on some jeans, an oversized button down or shirt and grab whatever layers of necklaces along with some heels and i’m good to go.
for me, style is personal. it’s borrowed from different inspirations but interpreted in an attempt to express one’s self.
cheena also has a lovely little blog called the photographer’s girl.
