Mr. Popper’s Penguins

a couple of days ago i mentioned that i watched mr. popper’s penguins recently. i also said i was a little worried at first, because i’m not exactly jim carrey’s biggest fan. but i wanted to give the cutie little penguins a chance so i went to see it!

oh my gosh you guys, it really is such a cute movie! well, nothing ground-breaking or anything, but fun nonetheless. i’ve read some reviews saying jim carrey is quite bland and forgetful in the movie and that he is upstaged by the little critters. i gotta say, that may very well be why i liked the film in the first place! i like the more “subdued” jim carrey – funny but subtle, and still very much effective. but hey, i’m no movie critic. :p

in a nutshell, mr. popper’s penguins is about how tom popper (carrey)’s life changes when he inherits 6 adorable, wacky gentoo penguins that follow him everywhere he goes. they sleep with him, play with him and basically wreak havoc wherever they go.

if you’re looking for a fun, feel-good movie to see right now (especially with the family!), i’d recommend this one. and i beg you not to waste your money on green lantern. ugh.

but that’s a rant for another time. :p
