A Memorable Lunch With Direk Joey Reyes
i and a bunch of other bloggers got the privilege of having a sit-down with renowned director jose javier reyes. it mostly centered on his upcoming film MY HOUSE HUSBAND (ikaw na!), starring judy ann santos, ryan agoncillo and eugene domingo, which is one of the official entries to this year’s metro manila film festival. direk joey says the movie is a “dramedy” about a married couple struggling with the perils of role-swtching in the household (wife goes to work while husband stays at home to cook and take care of the kid). it actually sounds really interesting and probably something a lot of people can relate to, so if you want to find out more about – or get updated with – the film you can visit their facebook page here.
direk joey was also kind enough to humor us with his thoughts on various subjects – from the struggles of the philippine film industry to the philosophical dilemma of success vs. fulfillment, and even dabbled a bit on the many great things about blogging (direk himself has a blog called CHOKING ON MY ADOBO). i giggled particularly hard when he talked about “identically-dressed korean newlyweds”, a phenomenon i have yet to witness but is apparently a common sight in places such as boracay (which direk joey frequently visits to relax and have some time to himself).
i was truly amazed at how brilliant this man was; he had opinions and ideas about almost everything – even silly topics that we randomly threw at him – and was so funny that i got stomach cramps from laughing too hard. i will, without doubt, remember that afternoon for a very long time. (:
