Absence Of Light

it is said that black is produced by the entire absence of light, and i suppose partly why i shy away from wearing it is its association with gloom, bereavement and anything even remotely tragic. i realize such perceptions are merely forged by man and hardly have to be treated so heavily – especially in the realm of fashion – but i do often find that colors impact my mood and overall demeanor throughout a day (crazy as that might sound). surprisingly, people around me have taken note of this and has thus caused me to have a defensive statement readily on hand: i do not hate black; i just don’t have a lot of pieces in my wardrobe that are black. these days though i find myself more drawn to it and often make an effort to include it in daily wear, as the color (to use the term loosely) gives an outfit a sophistication quite unlike any other.

however the fact that it is “the absence of light” still clings to the back of my mind, and so to make up for it i have bathed these photos in warm sunlight and now truly feel like black is something i could get used to wearing.
