Earn Your Stripes

i have always believed in the old adage of stocking up on classic pieces — LBDs, plain white shirts, dark wash denims — and constantly finding new ways to wear them, too. but i think i quite favor the more uncommon sartorial principle of going for unique pieces; items that are, in most cases, not appealing to all discerning eyes and not conventionally seen on the streets on any given day. this striped blazer sort of toes the line between the two extremes, but i have always wanted one like it and i am glad to have finally found a style i really love. i can imagine wearing it in all sorts of crazy outfits, paired with prints and colors and different textures, as well as toned-down looks that incorporate some classics into the mix. that’s really the thing that i will never tire of: the many ways in which to enjoy dressing up, then walking down the street in your ensemble without a care in the world.
