Five-Way Friday: Wide-Leg Jeans
wide-leg denims are literally the best. i know not everyone likes them or would find it necessary to try the look at least once in their life, but i feel like they are seriously underrated, especially in the everyday sartorial mix of things. sure, they get quite a bit of attention on runways and editorials, but how many people actually wear them in real life?
i honestly believe the wide-leg jean is one of the most flattering bottoms one can wear. i stand at 5’1″ and every time i wear one (with heels, natch) i feel — and look! — about 5 inches taller. true story.
the two pairs of high-waisted jeans above are both from topshop, bought on sale years ago, and properly hemmed to my height. while one of them is obviously wider than the other, they are both incredibly wonderful to wear. i’ve picked a handful of my favorite outfits featuring them and already i am itching to put another wide-leg outfit together.

Hi Bestie! I was wondering if you can help me out. I stand 5’4″-ish and I have a short upper-mid body. I’d like to wear wide-leg jeans but I think it’ll make me look smaller and wider. HAHA. Any suggestions?

hiya! oh that means you already have long legs to begin with, so you don’t have to worry about looking short. i’d suggest going for wide leg pants that are mid or low-rise, to give the illusion of a longer torso. i always go for high-waisted ones because they help elongate my legs (granted i have hidden heels under all that), so i suppose you should do the opposite to create a more even silhouette. i found a great post with advice on the best wide leg pants for every body type (pear, apple, etc), so you might want to check that out too!
