King Katsu
john and i got to try a new katsu place in SM north sky garden. we’d been seeing KING KATSU for weeks and always wondered if it was as good as our favorite katsu place — but i have come to realize it is perhaps not a good idea to compare the two.
king katsu, we found, is not really trying to be anything it’s not. its interiors, food, and overall unassuming vibe points to it being more of a “budget place” more than anything.
but that said, the katsu joint does offer its own charms. we liked the food, for one, and its affordability. john got the katsudon and i had the regular pork tonkatsu set, which comes with shredded cabbage, miso soup and unlimited rice. both orders were only P149, and considering the flavor and quality of the food, i’d say is a pretty darn good deal.
the restaurant itself is simply decorated but has a pleasantly relaxed ambience that makes for a nice hangout spot while enjoying the food. there are still plenty of items on the menu we have yet to try, so we’ll surely come back soon.
