Makeup Geek Eyeshadows Review And Swatches
back when i first started following beauty gurus on youtube, marlena’s channel was one of my most frequented ones. her tutorials were always so easy to follow, and she spoke in a way that was both knowledgable and relatable–all good things in my book. to say that i was overjoyed when she came out with her makeup line a couple of years ago is an understatement, and it’s taken me long enough to actually place an order and get workin’ on them!
i placed an order for eight of her eyeshadow pans ($5.99 each) and had them delivered to my aunt in the US who was coming to manila for vacation during the holidays. i figured it would save me some money and a bit of time, as well as guarantee the safety of the items better than anything.
MAKEUP GEEK does ship worldwide though! and in my case all the items were packed securely with bubble wrap and everything, so you can probably rest assured that everything will get to you intact.
i decided to place my MUG pans in this 12-pc customizable palette by coastal scents instead of their recommended z-palettes though. i just prefer the organization and overall look better, plus you really can’t go wrong with that big, built-in mirror.
so i just popped my eyeshadows into the magnetized palette (it’s the easiest thing, really) and arranged them the most sensible way i could. as you can see there’s still space for four more eyeshadows, so i am definitely filling that up soon! below are some swatches of the colors that i currently own. honestly the photos are quite crappy as the light would not cooperate with me during time of swatch, so i suggest you also check out their photos on the website.
1st row:
shimma shimma – metallic champagne
beaches & cream – matte peachy-beige
latte – matte medium warm brown
bada bing – deep warm brown w/ gold flecks
2nd row:
twilight – shimmery pale purple
moondust – metallic silver taupe
galaxy – cool metallic gunmetal
corrupt – matte black w/ subtle sparkle
as expected, the performance of these eyeshadows is nothing short of stellar. they are buttery-soft and blendable with tons of pigmentation — totally similar to, if not better than, some high-end brands (*cough* MAC *cough*). some shades may not look like much on the pan but when applied, you will find that they have something unique to offer. i find myself reaching for this palette often when doing make-up looks, both subtle and dramatic. if you’ve been on the fence about getting MUG eyeshadows, seriously, just go and buy some. you’ll love it!
