Pat Santos Opens Shop In Quezon City
i got a special invite to a mini fashion show at the gorgeous quezon city atelier of designer PAT SANTOS, the brilliant mind behind RTW brands blanc et noir and philosophy, both available in SM department stores. since both brands have been long-time favorites of mine, i knew i had to catch the designer’s showcase featuring a 13-piece SS15 collection and a peek into the swanky new atelier in the city of stars.
boy was i not disappointed. pat santos’ designs are elaborate and beautiful, full of creative thought and executed with obvious attention to different female tastes. my favorites are, as you can probably surmise, the pretty a-line dresses with layered fabrics and a unique take on the otherwise-typical summer floral. the intricate bright pink pullover also caught my eye — it’s even more stunning in person. i just want to live in it, to be honest.
while santos is still a major supplier for SM, he admits couture is his greatest passion and something he is determined to pursue further. in last season’s philippine fashion week, he turned out a dazzling array of gowns, regal creations with full skirts, blinding beadwork, and delicate crystal details. for this summer’s edition of PFW, tassels and pastels, he hints, will appear in his collection.
more importantly, the designer’s newest atelier will only be one of several he plans to put up in the years to come. santos says he is inspired by the fact that he’s devoting his time and efforts to something he loves.
“it’s not about the money, it’s about doing something that you’re passionate about. it feels good when people finally know who you are and what you can do.” – pat santos
i don’t know about you, but i will be waiting on the edge of my seat to see what other amazing things this talented mind will do.
