My Current Drugstore Make-Up Favorites
these have been my go-to products for my everyday full-face make-up routine for the last few weeks, and only recently did i realize that all of them are affordable and/or from the drugstore! i thought i’d share them with you today since i adore every single thing here and i highly recommend them — whether you’re on a budget or not.
BASE
using either a synthetic face brush or my fingertips, i start off with a quick sweep of the maybelline super cover BB cream {02 medium}, which gives great coverage and looks super natural with its satin finish. this is followed by the LA girl HD concealer {natural} under my eyes and on any spots/discolorations around my face. sometimes i top it off with a smidge of the collection lasting perfection concealer {fair 1} for brightness under the eyes, especially on days when i’m feeling especially zombie-like. 😛 everything is set with a light dusting of the rimmel stay matte powder {sandstorm} for all-day oil control.
EYES
most days i just apply a layer of my maybelline color tattoo {bad to the bronze} and blend out the edges with a fluffy brush. this gives a soft wash of taupe-y bronze color on the eyes and doesn’t budge until i take it off at the end of the day. when i want to spend more time on my eye make-up i pull out my sonia kashuk matte eye palette {eye on neutral} and do something smokier (these shadows are super soft and pigmented; the black shade is so dark that i can use it as eyeliner!). no matter what eye look i go for though, a lengthening & volumizing mascara is non-negotiable. my recent favorite has been the l’oreal paris voluminous power volume mascara {black smoke}.
i’m pretty low-maintenance with my eyebrows so i only use two things: my maybelline fashion brow cream pencil {brown} to lightly fill in sparse areas, and the fashion brow mascara {yellow brown} to lighten my brow hairs and keep them in place all day.
FACE
finishing off the face make-up is my tried-and-tested duo from ELF: their pressed mineral blush {sweet retreat} and super pretty baked blush {pinktastic}, the latter of which i use as highlight on the tops of my cheeks. it gives a nice, luminous glow and is quite comparable to MAC‘s popular mineralize skinfinish in soft and gentle (i have both and i actually use my ELF one more often!).
LIPS
i have a handful of lip products on rotation for my day-to-day make-up, depending on my mood. i like my wet n wild megalast lip color {902C – bare it all} for a classic peachy-pink nude; my maybelline creamy matte lipstick {touch of spice} for a nice, dusty pink; my ELF matte lip color {praline} for a taupe-y warm nude, and my ELF lip balm tint {berry} for a sheer wash of just-bitten red. i do sometimes pull out other lip products if i am looking for particular shades, but these four have been regulars!
i still haven’t found a face primer that i like to wear under my make-up, but i am considering getting the NYX angel veil primer, which i’ve heard wonderful things about. however, it is a little steep for something from the drugstore, so for that price i’m thinking of getting a skincare product to function as primer instead. something from olay, perhaps? they are known for their stellar skincare products after all, and i’ve always wanted to try one of their day creams. i’ll definitely do more research on it and let you guys know what i end up getting!
