DressLily Mini Haul + Review
this review post has been several months in the making (the draft’s just been sitting in my archive, waiting to be completed, but i kept forgetting to finish it!) and i often thought it was too late to talk about these items. but because i genuinely adore each little thing that i got, i figured it was better late than never. and what a fun way to start off the year, no?
much like my zaful shopping experience a few months prior, DRESSLILY really delivered in many ways. it exceeded my expectations — for the most part — and gained a new loyal customer in the process. so let’s go ahead and break down my order, shall we?
***
two quirky novelty bags caught my eye, and they are easily my favorite things from my entire order. i got this darling vintage-style, boxy crossbody with ‘newsboy’ embroidered on the front. it goes with just about every item of clothing i own, which is a great bonus.
another box-shaped bag i picked is this cute, old school boombox design. i am obsessed with both of them. their quality is amazing for the price and even with multiple uses now, i have yet to encounter any issues with either bag.
now, on to the beauty bits. first up is a 3-piece set of latex-free makeup sponges. these are teardrop shaped and come in three different sizes. i was so surprised at the quality of them: not quite identical in texture and ‘feel’ as the OG beauty blender, but they work just as well in my opinion. although slightly more dense, they are soft and squishy when wet and make for a pleasant makeup application.
since i’ve been using the largest one (pictured below beside the beauty blender, both wet) for months, it’s a bit dented now. thankfully there aren’t any tears or other imperfections that could hinder a flawless foundation application — yet. once it starts to fall apart, however, i can easily replace it with the medium sized sponge…plus there is also the smallest one which does come in handy from time to time.
i gotta be honest though: i use makeup brushes way more frequently, and i feel like i don’t have to worry about wear & tear just yet. but all in all, this is an awesome bang-for-your-buck purchase.
finally, there is this 9-pan mini eyeshadow palette by focallure. it comes in 5 different colorways and i chose the warm themed option with golden hues and oranges. i mostly got it because i’ve been really into the whole warm eyeshadow trend from the last year or so, but haven’t felt too eager to splurge on any high-end palette, in case it turns out to look horrible on me.
this handy little palette gives me what i need — there are mattes and metallics, yay! — without being too overwhelming. the colors aren’t craaazy intense, but pigmented enough to provide a stunning eye look. i like that i don’t get intimidated when i reach for this palette and i can easily complement it with other eyeshadows that i own. it also has a magnetic closure, which i thought was a nice touch.
it is missing a pale, creamy matte color though, as well as a rich, deep shade (the dark brown is kind of chalky and blends out lighter than it appears), but it is more than workable and truly a fantastic purchase for the price.

my orders shipped out in three separate packages (this is the one consistently annoying thing i’ve encountered when ordering from websites like dresslily); the first two arrived within just a couple of weeks and got delivered straight to my door, while the third parcel went through regular post and arrived after about two months.
i have no idea how these things work, as i placed my order for all items in one go and didn’t choose any fancy mode of shipping or anything. while it’s not the end of the world — at least i ended up liking everything that i got — it certainly tried my patience for a bit there.
overall, i did enjoy my first shopping experience with dresslily and would definitely order from them again if anything tickles my fancy (right now i have my eye on this star-embroidered bag and OMG i want it so bad). perhaps next time i will ask customer service about specific shipping details of an item to make the process run even smoother. fingers crossed it helps!
