Leave The Pieces When You Go
photos by ralph
one of the places i most enjoy using as backdrops for outfit photos are empty parking lots like this. it’s largely for the purpose of standing out and giving focus to what i am wearing, but also partly because i quite enjoy the emptiness of such places. i like hearing the clunk of my shoes against the hard concrete and feeling the soothing gusts wind in my hair — with hardly a care in the world as to how many pairs of eyes are watching. oddly enough, being in any kind of empty lot gives me a sense of peace and belonging; not a troubled kind of loneliness one might expect from such barren worlds. even though these places seemingly allude to things of forlorn, i manage to find solace in them. nothing in life is certain — people leave, our thoughts evolve, events transpire in unexpected ways — but i am happy to be able to stay standing, looking forward to another day.
