Tokyo Tokyo Ramen Bar
one of my favorite things about the rainy season is having an almost-daily excuse to load up on all sorts of comfort food, especially yummy soups. it is also quite timely that filipinos have been on a wild ramen kick these last few months, leading to the opening of plenty more ramen joints, therefore providing more options for those of us looking for some refuge from the crazy deluge.
recently i got invited to try out tokyo tokyo‘s version of the ramen, so i made my way to their ramen bar in trinoma and got my fill of the three flavors they offer: braised pork, spicy chicken and tempura miso. we were served all the variants in snack-sized bowls (P99 each) but between all the noodles, eggs, meat, and maki & gyoza we ate, we all walked outta there with heavy bellies that lasted well into the next morning — for me at least.
i am by no means an expert on ramen and would not likely be able to tell you the difference between “authentic” and “trying hard”, but i do know good food and tokyo tokyo’s offerings definitely fit in that category. the soups are bursting with wonderful flavor and the P150 you will spend for a full bowl is total bang for your buck.
i’m sure you’ve also noticed the piece of eye candy that graced our little feast: tokyo tokyo’s endorser daniel matsunaga. i can’t guarantee he will be there the next time you eat at tokyo tokyo, but if you try one of their ramen i think you will find yourself more than satisfied.
PS
the gyoza’s really tasty, too!
