Weather The Storm

wearing yellow and red together is something i’ve avoided for years. i remember a college classmate vaguely mentioning how the combination reminded her of mcdonald’s, and it resonated kind of negatively with me, so i just never put them together in any kind of context. it’s funny how we make associations like that — especially with colors that, on their own, don’t mean anything at all. just last year i went to work wearing a green sweater and brown jeans, prompting a colleague to say she can never wear such a look because it resembled a tree all too well. often i choose to ignore comments like that (“green and red? merry christmas!”) and continue on with my day relatively unscathed.
even so, certain combinations still leave me uneasy and, dare i say, shy to flaunt around. it’s a constant work in progress really: a continued effort to break out of my shell and go for things i am not naturally comfortable with. but when such instances occur i am left particularly pleased, like when i wore this yellow and red outfit yesterday and ended up going around town in the storm. i am happy to report not once did i think of mcdonald’s.

You don’t look like walking Mcdo at all. I find the outfit really inspiring to wear primary colors together! Love it!
