Christmas Cards: The Cute, The Fun and The Sentimental
like millions of others everywhere, i, too, have a number of close family and friends living and working all over the globe. even though i keep them in my thoughts and try to stay in touch as best as i can, the holidays always make me want to make the extra effort to let them know they are remembered and always loved — no matter the distance.
while i sometimes buy gifts for my family abroad (ETSY is my tried-and-true favorite for holiday gifts!), it can get rather costly and often difficult to arrange, for one reason or another. in lieu of physical presents, i find that one of the simplest — but most effective — ways to send well wishes to loved ones is thru special occasion cards, sent digitally or via traditional post. it’s easy and quite fuss-free, but not without sentiment. plus the choices are literally endless.
i already have a number of options for christmas cards ready to be sent out to family and friends this year, ranging from the cute and colorful to the timelessly heartfelt. the main reason i am drawn to online cards is the fact that they are almost always customizable, so you can find a style that you like and make it your own. better yet, why not turn it into something that you know the recipient will absolutely swoon over? it’s the little things that count, after all, and even a small gesture — such as sending a personalized card — can bridge the gap between any number of people.
i am also excited to have discovered a variety of cards from designer brands like kate spade, rifle paper co. (aka one of my favorite merchants on shopbop) and oscar de la renta, which are great for when you want to go that extra mile. they similarly work well for business or professional contacts, with their assortment of chic and elegant designs to suit every discerning taste.
for nostalgic souls (me!), i’d suggest going for cards personalized with photographs. old or new, goofy or thoughtful — it will be wholly appreciated. because really, what could be better?
if you’ve never sent a holiday card before, digital or otherwise, i hope you’d consider it this year. you can go as simple or as elaborate as you’d like, and the cards can reach just about anybody, anywhere. not only is it a wonderful way show that you care, but it also leaves more free time for you to actually be present for the holidays. now who doesn’t like that? 😉
