White Dress, Two Ways

i decided to do two versions of this outfit of a white dress + black inner top, as i thought the combination went both ways rather easily. the first is a modern, street style look with white sneakers and mirrored sunglasses, the second a sort of french-librarian-retro-chic medley that fits more into my usual style (though i would wear both outfits either way).

it’s important for me to keep things interesting where dressing up is concerned, partly by going out of my comfort zone on occasion, but also by keeping an open mind to the many ways in which others will undoubtedly interpret clothing pieces. in this case, it’s the Le Caprice maisie dress in white (currently on sale!), which i didn’t even think to use as a jumper/pinafore until fairly recently. it was actually camille’s take on the maisie dress (in pink gingham) that opened up this entirely new styling concept for me, and i couldn’t have been more excited about it. in my mind there were already over a dozen ways to style such a piece, but adding fresh new looks to my little wardrobe arsenal is always welcome and appreciated.
