Tie Your Heart To Mine
one of the best things i have discovered about dressing up is being able to mix together all my favorite sartorial styles, as well as the random bits and bobs i have collected over the years.
however, being that i love and own a wide variety of clothing and accessories, i sometimes open my closet and feel immensely intimidated by what i see. i’d rummage through it all only to give up and resort to a pair of jeans and a random t-shirt. nothing wrong with that, certainly! but when you have a million other options available, it’s nice to mix it up occasionally and wear the more *special* pieces out as well.
this is one such outfit where i swapped out the jeans + shirt combo with more elevated pieces. and simple as this look is, i actually find it quite lovely. most of it is old stuff i’ve had forever, plus a charming little travel case (vintage and used for cosmetics, i believe?) briefly borrowed from a dear friend. perhaps the only brand new thing in this look is my simple chain necklace, which was included in a PR package i received recently. i’ve actually found that more often than not, i rely on necklaces to spice up an outfit i’m wearing, no matter what ~aesthetic~ i’m going for. they’re just the easiest things to throw on and style, you know?
one of my go-to jewelry sites to browse is NY-based retailer Aurate, which produces sustainable jewelry made with ethical gold and diamonds. they have an incredible — and not at all intimidating — selection, from classic and minimalist necklaces to more of-the-moment statement jewelry. and the best part? you can choose the material used in each crafted piece (vermeil or solid gold), as well as the color finish (yellow, rose, or white gold). they have some truly high quality stuff and i seriously can’t get enough of this brand.
are necklaces also your favorite type of jewelry to wear? i hope i’m not the only one! now i just need to invest in more timeless styles that will go with everything and last for decades to come.
