Shop Til You Drop: GCASH American Express Virtual Card
a few days ago i got contacted by globe, asking me to try a new service they are offering GCASH users. it’s called the GCASH AMERICAN EXPRESS VIRTUAL CARD, a.k.a. the coolest way to shop online. but don’t take my word for it; read more and see for yourself.
i personally don’t own a credit card, and i know for a fact that not all online stores accept paypal (which is what i usually use to transfer funds). plenty of US-based shops don’t ship internationally, either, so it can get pretty annoying when i really want to buy something from such places.
now the GCASH AMERICAN EXPRESS VIRTUAL CARD gives us pinoys the easiest, breeziest, shopping experience with just a few simple steps — from payment to shipment straight to your door. best of all, you only need a globe number and gcash account to get started! let me show you how my recent shopping on nordstrom.com went:
first i registered with globe’s gcash service on my phone (all it took was one text to 2882!) and then signed up for the american express virtual card. as you can see on the screen, they are currently offering a 1-month free trial for the service, and truthfully, the maintenance of your account is really quite affordable! totally worth the sign up. anyway, a couple of minutes later and voila! i got an email with the link to all of my new (and very secured) information — amex card number, US address, phone number, etc. — as well as my new MY SHOPPING BOX account information.
MY SHOPPING BOX is a super cool mail and package forwarding service that allows you to have stuff delivered to your own US address, and then shipped directly to whatever philippine address you provide. i just love the idea of getting something all the way from the US in a matter of days, and not even having to pick it up from the post office! convenient, much?
so with all these information onhand, i hopped on over to nordstrom.com to shop away. i knew exactly what i wanted to buy: a pair of SUPER SUNGLASSES. i have always, always wanted one and i thought it was the perfect time to finally get a pair. i picked my favorite from the site, which was the LUCIA in puma, and added it to my cart.
i also bought the SUPER LUCIA in blonde havana matte, WHICH I WILL BE GIVING AWAY TO ONE LUCKY WINNER. but more on that later. *wink*
the checkout page was pretty straightforward, so i just entered all the required info: american express card number, expiration date and security code, plus of course my US shipping info as provided by my shopping box. a minute later i received a text confirmation from gcash on my phone, as well as an e-mail from nordstrom with all of my order details. now all i have to do is wait for an e-mail from my shopping box telling me my package is ready to be shipped here! SO EXCITING.
